Some weddings feel like events. Others feel like chapters in a long, well-loved book. Serena and Micah’s day landed firmly in the second category—warm, intentional, and full of the kind of moments you can’t stage even if you tried.

The morning began in two different worlds. Serena was surrounded by her people, laughter bouncing off the walls while hairpins, makeup brushes, and excited nerves did their dance. Micah’s side of the day had that calm, focused energy guys get when they’re trying to act normal but absolutely know their life is about to change. I love those parallel beginnings—two storylines slowly walking toward the same sentence.

Instead of a traditional first look, they chose a first touch. No spoilers, no early reveal—just hands finding each other around a corner and voices doing the heavy lifting. It’s amazing how powerful not seeing can be. You could feel the anticipation through the lens.

Their ceremony held that quiet, steady reverence that fits them perfectly. Nothing flashy, nothing forced—just two people making promises in front of the community that shaped them. Afterwards, hugs lasted a little longer than usual and smiles hurt in the best way.

Then the day shifted gears at the historic Americus Hotel, which is basically the main character energy of venues. Grand ceilings, glowing chandeliers, old-school elegance—it doesn’t just host weddings, it performs in them. Serena and Micah fit right into that classic vibe, like they’d been waiting for that ballroom specifically.

And let’s talk about the reception.

At some point the floor opened up for the Syrian Debke, and the room went from classy to gloriously electric. Circles formed, shoulders locked, feet hammered the beat, and suddenly every guest was either dancing or wishing they were brave enough to jump in. These are the moments I live for—the cultural heartbeat that turns a wedding into something unforgettable.

Between sweet parent dances, candid laughs, and a whole lot of joyful chaos, the day felt less like a timeline and more like a celebration that refused to check the clock.

Serena and Micah, thank you for trusting me to tell your story. Your day had soul, family, faith, and just the right amount of dance-floor mayhem. If this film ever makes you feel even half of what it was like to be there, we did our job.
